Lyrics

THE GIFT

He was all stretched out on tiptoes,
Reaching for God’s holy ceiling.
I’m not certain, but I suppose
He’d stand a better chance kneeling.

When life gives you more than you can stand,
Then it’s time for you to kneel.
God holds your future in His Hands,
And Those Hands have been known to heal.

Hopelessly lost and cast adrift
Until that slow and subtle shift.
You’ll find your way home – Your burdens will lift –
When the Giver becomes the Gift.

When you speak of God and His Only Son
Or that most Holy Trinity,
You know you’re speaking of The One
Who was, and is, and is to be.

You can see with certainty
God’s most majestic plan.
He has set eternity
In the very heart of man.

Don’t worry about where or when
Or what may be in store.
Whatever is has already been;
What will be has been before.

Hopelessly lost and cast adrift
Until that slow and subtle shift.
You’ll find your way home – Your burdens will lift –
When the Giver becomes the Gift.

Don’t wallow in sorrow
Or sink down in despair.
Don’t worry about tomorrow;
God’s already there.

Hopelessly lost and cast adrift
Until that slow and subtle shift.
You’ll find your way home – Your burdens will lift –
When the Giver becomes the Gift.
