ALL SHE WROTE 
 
Out drinking with the boys 
And playing cards all night, 
I heard this little voice 
Saying something’s not right. 
 
Asked the boys about it; 
They said that’s what men do. 
I never did doubt it, 
That what they said was true. 
 
I came home to find 
That handwritten note. 
“Goodbye!” she had signed, 
And that was all she wrote. 
“Goodbye!” was underlined,

Got a nice apartment 
Overlooking the mall. 
The way my marriage went - 
Might as well be a stall. 
 
The boys still call me up 
To play those games some more, 
But, like my coffee cup, 
I’ve been broken before …

Grab a beer, cut the deck. 
Don’t think about your wife - 
Friends are here, what the heck.

Till that certain party’s gone. 
 
You won’t pay me any mind 
Till you come home to find
