Lyrics

CALL ME HOME

"Did you enjoy your liquid cuisine?"
Quipped the first cop on the scene,
As he pulled the hobo from the ground.
"First time I've seen you around!"

The hobo looked up from where he stood,
Bent, broken, feeling no good.
He turned his surprisingly bright eyes
Toward the not-so-friendly skies - and cried:

"Father, why have you forsaken me?
Left me stranded and alone.
Oh, Lord, how much longer will it be
Till you choose to call me home?"

Then he turned to the policeman and said:
"You say it's the first time you've seen me;
This may be true to a degree.
In fact, I've always been in your life;
Closer to you than your wife."

The officer stood silent and stunned,
Feeling unmanned and outgunned.
Then, kneeling as he did recognize
The glory in those bright eyes,
He shouted at the skies:

"Father, why have you forsaken me?
Left me stranded and alone.
Oh, Lord, how much longer will it be
Till you choose to call me home?”

“Father, why have you forsaken me?
Left me stranded and alone.
Oh, Lord, how much longer will it be
Till you choose to call me home,
Till you choose to call me home,
Till you choose to call me home?”
