From the recording SAY SOMETHING IN POETRY
Lyrics
LOVE IS FUNNY
The ceremony is over.
There’s nothing left to see –
But the pure silk gown I wove her,
The last bridesmaid, and me.
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
It wasn’t like this at the start.
I had it all planned out –
All but a woman’s fickle heart,
Love’s treachery, and doubt.
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
The spring sun set our love afire.
We shared so many dreams –
All but how to spot a liar,
Deception, and her schemes.
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
A late summer wedding outdoors.
An innocent request –
Except that when it rained, it poured
On this poor wedding guest.
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
I never did see it coming.
I didn’t see her go -
I heard the pipe organ humming,
Two coughs, and one “Oh, no!”
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
The ceremony is over.
There’s nothing left to see -
But the pure silk gown I wove her,
The bartender, and me.
Love is funny,
A laugh a minute;
Sweet as honey,
But I’m not in it.
